Australian Oktoberfest Costume lingerie ad banned for being too sexy

Australian lingerie wholesale halloween costumes retailer Bras N Things vcxcdff358 is embroiled in a storm after it was forced to pull a campaign video down due to its overtly explicit content.

The video, wholesale halloween costumes which played in Bras N Things stores, featured 2011 Australia’s Next Model contestant Simone Holtznagel and showed her posing in a series of sexual positions — described as “amateur porn” in complaints — where she flaunted the latest Playboy lingerie.

The campaign, which resembles a Playboy ad, also features close ups of Holtznagel’s body wearing the lingerie.

A series of complaints to the AustralianAdvertising Standards Bureauforced the retailer to pull the ads, claiming the in-store screens were so large, seeing it was “unavoidable”.

“This was in an ordinary public place, with children and families there, why should they be confronted with it in a shopping mall,” read one complaint.

“It was vulgar, unsuitable for the young and simply demeaning for any woman walking past.”

Another read: “They were not merely modelling the underwear, they were moving suggestively, gyrating and looking lasciviously at the camera — like a very amateur porn movie.

Bras N Things declined to make a comment when contacted by news.com.au, but according to the complaint, the retailer received “very little feedback from customers” and “does not feel that it has breached any advertising standards”.

As a matter of “respect” to shopping centers, the video would be replaced with pictures instead in an act of “good faith.”

“The video advertisement is playing on digital screens in our store window in limited stores. There is no sound with the video, it is imagery only,” the retailer said.

Yet the ASB failed to agree with the retailer, citing the “manner in which the lingerie is model by the woman is sexualized.”

“The silent, moving image draws the eye of passers-by” while “the model is stroking her hair and her moving her body suggestively and that this amounts to a sexualized impact”.

Meanwhile, Holtznagel posted a lengthy rant on Instagram hitting back at the critics who claimed the ad was soft porn.

“Shout out to the prude who complained about my ‘vulgar’ and ‘amateur porn’ advertisement for the amazing Australian brand Bras N Things, and had the clip banned,” she wrote.

“Honestly, it’s just soooo offensive to show a confident, sexy WOMAN in her LINGERIE in the window of a (plot twist) — LINGERIE STORE!!!! Won’t somebody please think of the children?! I mean it’s just truly outrageous.

“How dare you sexualize my body. How dare- after all society’s requests, you take a confident and carefree depiction of a normal, healthy womanly body, promoting women’s products to women, and deem it offensive.

“Do not impress your insecurities on me, whether physical or sexual.”

The collection, according to Bras N Things, “features caging effects and strapping to create unique shapes on body” while “the innovating bunny boost plunge double push up bra” is available in cup sizes up to E.

The campaign ceased in July, and Bras N Things says it is confident the “video footage will not be used again”.

Curvy swimwear manufacturer China Kate SS14 introduces strapless bra up to J cup

The new Spring Summer 2014 collection from Curvy Kate has swimwear manufacturer China been launched offering even more styles and support for the lucky girls with larger cups. Expect lots of bold and bright colours like playful shades of Rose, Sherbet, Tigerlilly, China Blue which should put you into a Summer mood. See pictures below.

The main highlight of the collection is a new strapless wholesale swimwear bra called Luxe that fits all the way up to a J cup and starts at a 28″ back! There&’s not much in the way of strapless bras in larger cup sizes so we expect this to be a big seller. This new style has been inspired by the traditional tuxedo and comes in soft biscotti and black with a subtle polka dot effect and a soft satin edge and feminine button and bow detailing to add some extra interest.

We recently vcxcdff358 caught up with Steve Hudson, Managing Director of Curvy Kate who told us more about the new style and the SS14 collection.

The new offerings add a few other styles into the mix, here&’s a quick walk through.

Ritzy comes as a bra and babydoll and is nice and seductive with some pretty embroidery on the top of the cups. It fits up to a J cup and comes with a diamanté drop pendant to add some extra detail.

Eden is a fresh and summery floral item that arrives with full laminated coverage in balcony styling and would work well as an everyday bra. We especially like the frilled briefs which would turn this into a really pretty matching set.

Carmen arrives as Curvy Kate&’s first long line bra which has a hot pink base with lime embroidery to really get you noticed! It fits up to a J cup, has a suspender belt in the range and would be great to taken with you on a weekend away.

Roxie is a padded plunge bra that would work well as an everyday bra. The pretty lace and embroidery with contrasting bows add a bit of glamour and its nice to see a plunge bra fitting up to J cup.

Dare is more of a luxury item which is quite sheer with intricate embroidery detailing. This also offers some plunge up to a J cup.
